Does anyone know where the best place to get statistics (in the UK) is? (For example where do 16 year old males socialise the most). I'm trying to put together a business plan so I can be a self employed guitar tutor, and I need information about my target customers. (Mainly 12 to 25 year old males).

Re: Statistics

I think you might be better off placing yourself where people would look for guitar lessons, such as adverts / domain to your site / classifieds etc.

5% of people using google are looking to buy something where as on Amazon it's going to be much higher, like 90% or something.

Similarly only a relatively small % of people in that target demographic by age and sex will be looking compared to yourself being in the right place.

Although it seems logical that males 12 - 25 is a good target group, you'd be better off asking are most students male and in that age group? perhaps surprisingly I can answer based on my students: "no", I have teenage boys and girls, women, young men, pensioners, and younger children age 6 and up. Just less than 25% of my students are in the target demographic you talk of.

Ok, thanks. Actually I'm already doing a lot of what you said, but I'll look into advertising with Amazon. I should have mentioned that I mainly teach rock and metal guitar. Girls tend not to be interested in those genres too much. (?) Thanks for your time.
