Fees

Hi there,
Can anyone tell me what the current fee is for an hours tuition. I have been told anything from £20 to £50 ph.
I want to be fair and competitive but also don't want to do myself out of money.
Also, what about when teaching a group how much do I charge them?

Many Thanks

Boza

Re: Fees

Hi Boza

I used to teach an accountant who told me i should find out how well off each student was and charge them accordingly!!!! Good system ay!!? emoticon

I also once read an article that gave a points equals £'s system, (add a £ for a waiting room, or use of equipment, or free coffee etc), i worked out that i should be charging 3 times as much as i do according to this!

I think you just have to be realistic. Check out the competition, (a few phone calls should take care of that), what sort of area are you in? If it's Mayfair then you should be charging a tad more than if you live in a less well off area.

If it's any use i live in the "Black country", West Midlands and i charge no more than £20 an hour. I also offer a staggered system, less for half hour and 3/4 hour lessons. As for groups, well it depends how many at a time. If you normally charge £20 an hour then teaching 3 at a time would probably come out at about a tenner each.

BUT.... scratch a guitar teacher and you'll reveal many, many more thoughts on this. emoticon
