home insurance

Hi, I've been teaching from home for 15 months now, and I'm interested to know what type (if any) of insurance any other teachers have regarding their property.(i'm in the UK!)

i'e' - what happens if someone gets an electric shock in my house off my equipment??

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Re: home insurance

Hi, just wanted to flag up my original question to see if snyone else bothers with insurance!!!

Also, has anyone else had problems in getting a CRB check in view of being self-employed??

Thanks

Re: home insurance

Hi Barry, regarding home insurance - join the Musicians Union (UK) and you get public liability insurance included. You also get a limited amount of free insurance for equipment .

As far as a CRB is concerned, get in touch with your local council supply teachers department and ask for advice. The council, or a school will arrange the CRB for you. As far as I know a CRB check cannot be requested by an individual. The council may want you to register as a supply teacher first - it's your decision but be careful.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, it does help.

I hadn't thought about renewing my MU membership to take advantage of the insurance.

Thanks again !!
